Peace, Calm, and Restoration

This Sunday is known as Good Shepherd Sunday when we are reminded that Jesus knows us by name, cares for us, and offers comfort and peace for our lives.

The psalm appointed for this Sunday is the beloved 23rd Psalm.

During our deacon formation on spirituality, we were invited to write a prayer. I chose the 23rd Psalm as my inspiration:

The familiar Psalm says:

“You lead me beside the still waters, You restore my soul…”

Gracious and Loving God,

Lead us to those still waters today, that we may find peace and comfort in the quiet solitude, resting with You, that in the silent refuge, You will enfold us with your love and saving grace, You will restore our souls, so once refreshed, we can re-enter the world to love and to serve You, as You have called us to do. In the name of our beloved Jesus Christ, we pray.

Amen.

I offer this prayer for us all as we face the chances and challenges of life.

I offer this prayer for our Celtic Pilgrimage group as we journey to silent refuges in Wales, on the Isle of Man, and on the Holy Island of Iona.

And as the sheep crowd the narrow causeways on the way to Iona, I will smile and know that Jesus is ever with us.

Eastertide blessings, Judy Q+
